Real Madrid are in the market for a new central defender this summer, following the departures of Nacho Fernandez (to Al-Qadsiah) and Rafa Marin (to Napoli). Leny Yoro is their top target, but it’s far from certain that the 18-year-old rising star joins from Lille.
Earlier this week, Manchester United had an offer accepted for Yoro, who must now decide whether to move to the Premier League giants, or wait for Real Madrid – his preference. If he heads to Manchester, alternative options will be considered by Los Blancos’ sporting department.
According to reports in Germany, as covered by MD, Diogo Leite is on Real Madrid’s list of defensive targets. The 25-year-old had been linked with a move to the Spanish capital in January in the wake of David Alaba’s ACL injury, but nothing materialised. On this occasion, it could be different.
Real Madrid will be praying for Yoro turns down Man United, and while they wait for his decision, negotiations with Lille have started. In the next week or so, it could be known whether they will need to look at alternative targets.
