One of the players to begin pre-season with Barcelona earlier this week was Alex Valle. The 20-year-old defender returns to Catalonia after a promising loan spell at Levante last season, and the expectation is that he will remain with Hansi Flick’s squad for the 2024-25 campaign, as a backup to Alejandro Balde at left-back.

However, there is a chance that Valle ends up leaving this summer – against Barcelona’s wishes. As reported by Marca, the release clause in his current contract will reduce to €3m on the 1st of August, providing that he does not pen a renewal before this date.
A quick decision will be needed by Hansi Flick, and sporting director Deco. Valle has plenty of suitors on the back of his performances for Levante, and if they want to retain his services at Barcelona going forward, they will almost certainly need to agree a new contract with the young defender in the next 18 days.
