Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez could leave the club on a free transfer next week.
Ahead of the new season, Barcelona are working on deals to reduce their overall salary bill.
Martinez is one of the players on a list of potential options to leave in a squad clear out in Catalonia.
However, any deal to offload the veteran centre back is complicated, as he will request a pay off to settle the final year of his contract.
The 33-year-old joined on a free transfer from Athletic Club last summer, on a two-year contract, but Barcelona’s financial issues meant they could only register him with La Liga for one year.
As per reports from Diario Sport, if they do not activate the second year by July 15, he can leave as a free agent.
Martinez wants to stay at Barcelona, despite the uncertainty on his contract, and the club are aiming to retain him.
