England face Spain in the Euro 2024 final, with plenty of young players involved. In fact, one player from each side featured in the under-21 Euros final last summer, which England won 1-0.
Cole Palmer got the winner for the Three Lions with a deflected free-kick, and La Roja have not forgotten about it either, as highlighted by Diario AS. Palmer ran over to celebrate in front of the Spain bench in a bad-tempered match, causing a melee between both sides.
It enraged Villarreal and current Spain player Alejandro Baena amongst others, and saw England assistant Ashley Cole sent off during the incident. Meanwhile recently departed Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez, who has just signed for Real Sociead, said the following.
“It surprised me. He didn’t want to apologise or anything like some of his other teammates,” he said. “I don’t know, I would have celebrated it in a different way and my teammates would have done it in a different way as well.”

“They [England] have the attitude they want to have. This is not the first time something like this has happened with this team. We have tried to represent our country in the best possible way and have the utmost respect for all our rivals. They wanted to celebrate it like this and also after the missed penalty.”
Those involved have not forgotten about Chelsea forward’s antics, and beating Palmer would be an extra note of sweetness for Baena and those who watched the match from a Spanish perspective. There is also a chance that neither Baena or Palmer get on.
