Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal leaves Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior out of Ballon d’Or selection

Real Madrid and Spain defender Dani Carvajal has gone for an all-Spanish trio when asked for his Ballon d’Or votes. The 32-year-old does not actually have a vote, which is all the better for Real Madrid teammates Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, who in Spain are being posited as the top candidates.

Carvajal did not that both Vinicius and Bellingham had done more than enough to be considered, but named himself as his five-point pick, Manchester City midfielder Rodri Hernandez as his three-point choice, and Joselu Mato as his one-point selection.

Those choices do suggest his response is somewhat tongue in cheek. It should be noted that having married twin sisters, Joselu is Carvajal’s brother in-law too. Carvajal does not lack for confidence though, and says he always maintains the mindset that he is the best right-back in the world, and this season at least, he does have a strong claim to that title.
