Barcelona have suffered their first setback of the season after just two days back in training. Youngster Aleix Garrido has suffered a relapse of a foot injury, and will again undergo surgery.
Garrido came onto the radar of La Liga fans towards the end of the 2022-23 season with a cameo appearance against Almeria, but last season had his campaign curtailed by foot surgery. As per MD, his metatarsal is again giving him issues, and he has undergone surgery for a second time on the same foot.
The 20-year-old is likely to be out for three to four months depending on his recovery. He was set to play for Barca Atletic next season, but would have had a chance to impress Hansi Flick during Barcelona’s preseason tour to the USA in all likelihood. It’s a crushing blow for Garrido, who has just a year left on his deal and is likely playing for his future at the club.
