Spain and Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has taken Euro 2024 by storm, winning the hearts of his home nation, as well as plenty more from around the rest of the world along the way. Even when he’s not there, stadiums are singing his name.
With Barcelona on their summer break, the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic is back to its usual summer duties of hosting concerts. Popular Spanish group Estopa were playing live on Wednesday night, and added a new hit to their collection – ‘Lamine Yamal, every day I love you more’.
The group led a 60,000 strong crowd in Barcelona in the chant, yet more evidence of his impact.
Barcelona have worked hard to protect him, but the combination of his form and the Spanish national team opening the doors to interviews with the 16-year-old have snowballed into Lamine Yamal being one of the images of the summer in Spain.
