Following the departure of Roman Yaremchuk at the end of last season, Valencia have been on the lookout for a new striker to partner Hugo Duro in attack. From early on, Rafa Mir has been their top target, and after weeks of discussions, which did include some complications, an agreement has now been finalised.
Valencia made Mir’s return official on Thursday. The 27-year-old previously played for Los Che from 2015 to 2018, and six and a half years later, he has made his way back to the Mestalla – a move that he has been yearning for in recent months.

Mir joins Valencia on a loan deal from Sevilla, and the agreement does include a buy option worth €5m, as reported by Marca.
Valencia tried to re-sign Mir last summer, before instead having to opt for Yaremchuk. 12 months on, they’ve got their man – it remains to be seen whether it was worth the wait for head coach Ruben Baraja.
