Real Madrid will bring back former central defender if Leny Yoro efforts fail amid Manchester United bid

Real Madrid have made Leny Yoro their number one objective for the summer transfer window after signing Kylian Mbappe, but they have started to look at alternatives should they be unable to sign a second Frenchman.

Yoro is keen to join Los Blancos and they have an agreement on terms with him, but are still in talks with Lille, as they try to establish a price for the 18-year-old. Meanwhile Manchester United have had a bid accepted by Lille for Yoro, believed to be around €50m, and are trying to persuade Yoro to accept their offer.

If they are successful or Yoro remains at Lille, Diario AS report that Real Madrid will try to sign Mario Gila from Lazio. The 23-year-old Spaniard came through at Castilla, and was sold to Lazio two seasons ago for €6m, but Real Madrid retained 50% of his rights. It means any deal for him would be half the cost.

Neither would they be the only side interested in Gila though, with Juventus, Inter and Bayer Leverkusen all looking at him. It is not yet clear what sort of price tag he would command, but Lazio can be tough negotiators.

Gila started off last season on the bench under Maurizio Sarri, but by the end of the campaign had won a starting spot in Rome. In particular he stands out for his pace, as one of the fastest players in Serie A last season. Certainly it’s a deal that makes sense on many levels, as Gila will retain his value should they decide to sell him down the line.
