Borja Iglesias’ situation is hotting up. The 31-year-old striker will almost certainly be leaving Real Betis during the summer, despite having started pre-season training with Manuel Pellegrini’s squad this week. While he’s been linked with a return to Germany, it seems more plausible that he will remain in La Liga.
Celta Vigo are showing interest in Iglesias, as they search for a Jorgen Strand Larsen replacement. However, a deal looks complicated at this stage, and this has allowed Rayo Vallecano to take advantage.
According to Relevo, Rayo have returned to the fray for Iglesias, and they have renewed confidence to finalise an agreement with Betis. Talks have resumed between the two clubs, and while a loan deal is more likely, a permanent transfer is considered to be a possibility at this stage.
Rayo values the “qualities and experience” of Iglesias, whom they believe to be the ideal player to strengthen their striker options. Betis want to move him on this summer, although they want the best possible deal – especially with numerous clubs interested.
