Mallorca goalkeeping situation becomes clearer as €6.5m sale edges closer to completion

One of the big decisions facing new Mallorca manager Jagoba Arrasate revolves around his goalkeeping department. Currently, he has three players at his disposal, all of whom want to start – they have all shown themselves more than capable of having the starting spot for next season.

As thing stand, Predrag Rajkovic is expected to continue as number one, although Mallorca are reportedly keen to move him on while his stock is high. That would leave Dominik Greif in pole position to be first-choice, although they also have Leo Roman, who was excellent on loan at Real Oviedo last season.

It’s a big decision for Arrasate, and it is one that looks as if it is about to get slightly easier. According to Marca, Genoa have offered €6.5m to sign Roman, who would be the replacement for former La Masia ‘keeper Josep Martinez, who recently joined Inter Milan.

Sacha Tavolieri has reported that an agreement between Mallorca and Genoa is close, with the Serie A side confident of closing a deal once Roman returns from his holidays.

It’s worth noting that Mallorca rate Roman very highly, and he does have a release clause in excess of €10m. However, it seems like they are prepared to cash in now, given that there is no obvious path for him to become first-choice ‘keeper at Son Moix.
