Barcelona to face French opposition in 2024 instalment of Joan Gamper Trophy

Barcelona have several high-profile friendlies lined up as part of their annual pre-season tour of the United States, with the most notable being their clash with Real Madrid in New Jersey. Upon returning to Catalonia, they will play their curtain-raising fixture in the Joan Gamper Trophy, which will be against AS Monaco this year.

As revealed by MD, the Ligue 1 side have agreed to partake in the fixture, which will be played on the 12th of August at the Estadi Olimpic in Montjuic. Monaco had been due to play in the French Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain in Beijing a few days prior, but that match was postponed to a later date.

The match against Monaco will be Hansi Flick’s first match as Barcelona manager on home soil, and he will hope to start with a victory. Tottenham Hotspur were defeated in the 2023 instalment, and the Catalans are aiming for another success in their pursuit of the best possible preparation for the 2024-25 season.
