This summer’s transfer window is an important one for Sevilla, as they aim to get Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta’s reign as manager off to a good start. They’ve already completed their first deal, for winger Chidera Ejuke, and their second signing of the summer is imminent.
It’s a player that Garcia Pimienta knows well, too. As reported by Marca, Gerard “Peque” Fernandez is poised to sign for Sevilla after they triggered the €4m release clause in his Real Racing Club de Santander contract. The 21-year-old attacker has already made the trip to Seville in order to close his signing for Los Nervionenses.

Peque is off the back of an outstanding season for Real Racing Club, having scored 19 goals across all competitions – 18 of those came in the Segunda.
Garcia Pimienta knows Peque from their time together in the youth categories at Barcelona, and they will now be reunited at Sevilla. They will hope to resume their fruitful relationship at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
