Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion speaks on Chelsea bids

Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omordion has addressed the rumours surrounding his future ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Chelsea have reportedly had multiple bids turned down by Atletico, with at least one in excess of €40m.

It has been reported throughout Chelsea‘s pursuit of Omorodion, which has gone quiet of late, that the player himself remains focused on succeeding at Atletico. This is something he assured fans of himself.

“That’s to do with the market, I don’t control those things. They are prices that are set and whether it is exorbitant or not, I don’t know, but I don’t get involved in that, I don’t care about it at all, I always want to achieve the best for myself and right now I am focused on Atletico.”

Marca also asked what he thought about people speaking of him negatively due to the reported size of the bids coming in, saying he is not worth it.

“Well, people say what they want. I am focused on my stuff and that’s it.”

He also made it clear he was trying not to think about the possibility of Chelsea signing him, or Atletico accepting a bid.

“Whether you want it or not, in the end you find out because it appears everywhere, your family members, your loved ones tell you about it… I always say to move on from that because only I know the truth and in the end I move on from the subject. I have people who work for me and speak on my behalf. I’m calm on that topic, I try to isolate myself from everything because if not, it’s a lot of stress for me, since in the end I’m young.”

The most recent reporting is that Chelsea have not yet given up on Omorodion, but Atletico would reportedly think about it for €60m for the 19-year-old, who is coming off the back of his first season in professional football. Los Rojiblancos have not set an explicit price tag, rather they will try to hold onto him unless a bid which is too good to turn down.
