France captain Kylian Mbappe has been criticised by French politician Marine Le Pen over his recent election comments.

Mbappe and other French internationals have spoken out over the potential of a political change in France ahead of Sunday’s crucial election.

Ahead of a key vote, Mbappe has repeated his plea for French voters to block the ‘extremes’ from coming into power ahead of the second-round elections.

Mbappe described the first round results as catastrophic and called on young people to react and ensure Le Pen is not elevated into a position of power in Paris.

France face Portugal in the Euro 2024 semi finals with the final schedule for July 14 which will clash with the vote if France get past La Roja and reach the showdown game.

However, despite praise for his stance on the issue, Le Pen has hit back at Mbappe, claiming his position does not reflect French society in a realistic way.
