Barcelona youngster leaves club upon expiry of contract, returns to Real Betis

Real Betis to Barcelona was the route taken by Gavi and Fermin Lopez early in his respective careers, and another youngster to swap Andalusia for Catalonia was Juan Pablo Galbarro, who made the move in the summer of 2020 – at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Galbarro has shown plenty of promise during his time at Barcelona, especially in his first 12 months. The club’s academy coaches regarded him very highly, and he was noted as a “fast and explosive” winger. However, injuries have prevented him from being further up in the youth categories.

As reported by Sport, he’s now opted to return to Betis this summer, having taken the decision not to renew his contract, which expired on the 30th of June.

Galbarro’s case is all too familiar, and it’s one that not only happens at Barcelona, but many clubs across Spain and Europe. The teenager will hope that a return home to Real Betis will allow him to get things moving in the right direction.
