Real Madrid midfielder to speak with club in bid to secure exit

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos surprised many by signing a a four-year deal with the club last summer, and it is currently working against him. Los Blancos are aware of his desire to leave the club this year, but finances could get in the way.

According to Matteo Moretto, Ceballos will speak with Real Madrid again to see if there is a way for him to leave this summer. The sticking point is that having renewed his deal last summer, and giving him a pay rise, they are reluctant to let Ceballos leave on the cheap, and few sides seem willing to spend big on the 27-year-old. While there have been enquiries for Ceballos, no side has taken talks any further for the Spain international.

Ceballos’ stance is understandable, but with Los Blancos losing Toni Kroos, their desire to hold onto him is also reasonable. After just 881 minutes, Carlo Ancelotti used him less than half of what he did last year, and if Jude Bellingham plays further back, it is hard to see that total increasing too much. It seems likely that Luka Modric will also play much more without the German there, while last season Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni will be hoping to avoid the injury issues they had this campaign.
