Jude Bellingham potentially facing Euro 2024 ban for England after UEFA open investigation

The UEFA disciplinary committee have opened an investigation into Jude Bellingham, after he made a potentially lewd gesture towards the Slovakia bench. Bellingham has explained that it was not related to his opponents, but he is now at the mercy of UEFA.

Bellingham came up with a brilliant overhead kick to equalise for England in stoppage time against Slovakia, and after celebrating, as he was walking back, he appeared to blow a kiss in the direction of the Slovakia bench before gesturing to his genitals.

The Real Madrid star came out on Twitter to explain it was an inside joke meant for his friends, and it was not cited in the referees report. However after UEFA announced investigations against the English FA for disturbances and flares, while also emitting the following statement, as per Diario AS.

“In addition, a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary inspector will carry out a disciplinary investigation into a possible violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English Football Association player, Jude Bellingham, allegedly occurring in the framework of this match.”

If he is found guilty of violating the decent conduct, then he could miss the Euro 2024 quarter-finals against Switzerland. SkySports explain that there is a good chance that the investigation is not completed before the game though, and it is much more likely he receives a fine than a ban.
