Savio Moreira was one of the standout performers in last season’s spectacular Girona side. The 20-year-old, on loan from Troyes, registered a very impressive nine goals and 10 assists in La Liga, as the Catalans finished third, qualifying for the Champions League for the very first time in their history.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Savio would be signing for Manchester City, another City Group side. Girona had hoped to bring the Brazilian winger back for another season, although that possibility now looks to be over.
Sport have relayed information from Brazilian media that Man City will not allow Savio to leave on loan. Their intention is to keep him in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the forthcoming season, and he could even be a key player going forward.
Not getting Savio back is a big blow for Girona, and they will now need to find a replacement. It remains to be seen how they go for.
