Manchester United launch enquiry for Girona star, player’s preference is to join Real Madrid

One of the downside of Girona’s spectacular 2023-24 season is that they could lose many of their star players this summer. Aleix Garcia has already left to join Bayer Leverkusen, while Savio and Yan Couto have returned to their respective loan clubs. They surely won’t be the last big hitters to depart Montilivi.

Artem Dovbyk has been strongly linked with exiting, while Miguel Gutierrez is also attracting interest. The left-back is attracting interest from Manchester United and Bologna, as reported by Relevo – both clubs have enquired to Girona in regards to his availability and asking price.

Gutierrez’s release clause is worth €35m, and the likelihood is that Girona will demand a fee close to this, given that Real Madrid own 50% of the rights. That would mean each clubs receives €17.5m, although Los Blancos can re-sign the 22-year-old (their buy-back clause is rumoured to be in the region of €8m).

Gutierrez’s preference would be to re-join Real Madrid, although he is happy at Girona. For now, Los Blancos have yet to decide how to act.

  1. He is a better option than Davies. Problem with Madrid, they never trust their Castilla players no matter how good they are. Look at Barca. Madrid too chasing outside talents rather than inhouse. So disappointed with Madrid nowadays.
