Mason Greenwood could be offered a shock transfer move to France this summer.
The 22-year-old is set to leave Manchester United in the coming weeks after his return from a loan spell at Getafe.
Getafe have consistently stated their openness to bringing Greenwood back to the club next season on the back of being named as player of the season in 2023/24.
Club president Angel Torres has indicated talks are ongoing with United, despite rumours of Getafe withdrawing from the race, but the situation is unresolved.
Previous reports indicated Italian trio Lazio, Napoli and Juventus are tracking him and could be open to offers in the region of €40m.
However, as per the latest update from The Athletic, Marseille have opened preliminary negotiations with United, and Greenwood is keen on a new challenge.
Getafe are set on their stance of only being able to afford a loan but Marseille could swoop to take Greenwood away from Manchester on a permanent basis.
