Rodrygo Goes camp sounding out options for Real Madrid forward amid doubts over role

The arrival of Kylian Mbappe has been met with delight in the Spanish capital, and publicly Rodrygo Goes has been part of that. However certainly he will start the season as the theoretically most under pressure for his position with the Frenchman to come straight into the line-up.

If Ancelotti goes with a front three, then Rodrygo would have a chance to start, and Sport say that Real Madrid have given him assurances over his role next season. Playing Rodrygo would mean dropping Jude Bellingham further back though, and going with a much more attacking line-up than Carlo Ancelotti has done so.

Los Blancos have pointed to Joselu Mato’s exit as an extra tally in his favour, given Mbappe and Endrick Felipe are more likely to feature through the middle now. Yet the Brazilian is not entirely convinced, and nor are his camp, bearing in mind that Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz will also be battling for his minutes.

The same outlet explains that Rodrygo’s camp are now sounding out potential options, hence links primarily to Manchester City and Liverpool, and less so Arsenal and Newcastle United. Those advising him are willing to move him on if he is no longer a starter at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Certainly it seems highly unlikely that Rodrygo would move this summer, without even fighting for his place. Equally any move for Rodrygo seems likely to be in exchange for a major fee, and any side that is considering him as an option would likely have to make him the centre of their already formed transfer plans. If he does not begin the big matches next season though, talk of a move will grow increasingly loud ahead of next summer.

  1. Rodrigo should go. Naturally, Mbappe plays on the right wing. That is where he is most deadly. That is where Rodrigo plays. Arda Guler also plays there, next season he would want to be involved. Arda is better and younger. Even Diaz is also good enough. I still believe he could be more effective than Rodrigo given the chance. The best is to go to other clubs while at his peak.
