While he may be yet to take over as the senior manager in his own right as he wraps up his coaching badges, there is little doubt that Cesc Fabregas is leading the project at Como, who have just returned to Serie A. The pleasant surroundings and the name of a World Cup winner allow them to go after slightly bigger fish, and they are seeking to bring in a former Real Madrid star.
After signing Andrea Belotti, their next target is Raphael Varane, who is leaving Manchester United. The 31-year-old centre-back did not enjoy the most successful of spells at Old Trafford, but should still have plenty left in the tank. Matteo Moretto reports that talks are already under way between the two sides, but no doubt he will have other offers too.

Fabregas’ progress at Como will no doubt be eyed with interest in Spain, and should things go well, it will not be long be the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona are linked to their former midfielder. It seems he will have the backing to bring in some resources this summer.
