Barcelona defender agrees five-year contract with Porto, imminent negotiations to take place over fee

Barcelona appear keen to close the sale of Mikayil Faye in the coming days, as they aim to continue raising money ahead of the summer transfer window opening. Although doubts have cropped up this week over the chances of a deal being finalised before the start of July, there has been significant movement on Thursday.

As reported by A Bola (via Sport), Barcelona sporting director Deco has jetted off to Portugal to meet with representatives from Porto, the club that are strong favourites to sign Faye. Jijantes have captured pictures of the Portuguese at El Prat airport, seemingly on his way to said meeting.

Faye has already agreed personal terms with Porto, who have offered him a five-year contract upon joining. However, there are concerns that they may not be able to meet Barcelona’s asking price: the Catalans want at least €15m, whereas Porto – who are struggling financially – can only afford a fee in the region of €5m. It remains to be seen how this meeting goes.

  1. There he goes, the next big thing from La masia, think about araujo, gavi, Marc guiu (Will be Sold) Simmons, araujo, maybe Faye will be a future star, and barca just get 15 millions, he is later maybe 70 millions….. I don’t get it, why is barca still not understanding? Who needs those expensive foreign players instead?
