Vinicius Junior demands lifetime contract at Real Madrid – “Hopefully the president is watching”

The celebrations are ongoing after Real Madrid collected their 15th Champions League on Saturday, defeating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley Stadium. As ever, one of the talismanic figures in the success was Vinicius Junior, whose goal in the 83rd minute killed the game as a contest.

It was a phenomenal season for Vinicius, despite missing over two months with two separate hamstring injuries earlier in the campaign. He ended on 24 goals for Real Madrid across all competitions, which has him right at the top of the list of Ballon d’Or candidates.

Speaking post-match (via Relevo), Vinicius made a direct statement to president Florentino Perez in regards to his future as a Real Madrid player.

“I’m very happy to be able to stay here for so long. Hopefully the president is watching this interview and will renew me once again. I want to stay here forever, I want to make history like Toni has done, like Luka, Carvajal, Nacho… Players who have won six times and have shown us this way. I want to continue like them.”

There’s little no doubt that all Real Madrid supporters would love Vinicius to remain for his entire career, and if he does collect the 2024 Ballon d’Or, it will surely be the first of many in his career.
