Sevilla confirm appointment of former Barcelona coach as new manager on two-year deal

Sevilla have confirmed the appointment of their sixth manager in the last two years. Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta will take charge of the first team, following the departure of Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of last season.

Garcia Pimienta left Las Palmas last week in order to take up the position at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, which he will begin with immediate effect. He has penned a two-year deal, which will initially keep him at Sevilla under the end of the 2025-26 season.

Garcia Pimienta has impressed greatly over his coaching career, which started in the youth categories at Barcelona. He was dismissed as B team manager in 2021, before taking over at Las Palmas in 2022, and guiding them back to La Liga fin his first full season in charge.

It’s a very exciting appointment for Sevilla, although work will need to be done for Garcia Pimienta to get the squad back in the fight for European football. Given the club’s money problems, his task will be even more difficult.
