Frenkie de Jong makes training return ahead of Euro 2024

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong is back in training ahead of Euro 2024 this month.

The Dutch international missed the final weeks of Barcelona’s season with an ankle injury.

His absence from the La Blaugrana squad caused concerns over his fitness for the tournament in Germany this summer.

Ronald Koeman included the former Ajax schemer in his final 26-man panel despite his injury concerns.

De Jong is a vital player for La Oranje, and Barcelona’s decision not to overload him in the domestic season run in, has paid off.

As per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, de Jong took part in training at the Dutch warm up base in Zeist, but his comeback is still being monitored.

Koeman opted against full role for de Jong in the session, but his rehabilitation is on track, to start in the Netherlands first group game at Euro 2024 against Poland on June 16.

If de Jong is deemed fit enough, he could be given some minutes in the upcoming friendlies, against Canada and Iceland, on June 6 and 10 respectively.
