Former Real Madrid star warns Rodrygo Goes against summer exit

Rodrygo Goes has been warned against a move away from Real Madrid in 2024.

The Brazilian international enjoyed his best ever La Liga campaign in 2023/24 with 10 league goals, as Los Blancos clinched the Spanish title.

However, speculation has opened up over his long term position in Madrid, with a contract until 2028 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Premier League champions Manchester City are rumoured to be considering a bold summer move but Rodrygo is determined to stay and fight for his place in Madrid.

The incoming arrival of Kylian Mbappe means a starting place is lost in the Real Madrid attack with the 23-year-old potentially the odd one out.

Former Real Madrid midfielder, and director of football, Predrag Mijatović has advised caution over leaving, based on his own experience in the 1990’s.

“I was wrong to leave Real Madrid for Fiorentina. Florence is a beautiful city, but two weeks later I regretted leaving. For everything, the locker room, training ground, the stadium”, as per quotes from Diario AS.

“Players don’t know what they have at Real Madrid and they only begin to understand it when they are no longer there.”

Rodrygo will assess his options when he returns from Copa America duty with Brazil in July, with his current preference to stay in Madrid, but Mbappe’s move puts a question mark over his plans.
