Sevilla confirm departure of 29-year-old midfielder as summer overhaul continues

Sevilla are entering into a new era, with Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta poised to become the club’s next manager – their sixth in less than two years. The former Barca Atletic and Las Palmas head coach will have a big rebuild on his hands, and before his appointment becomes official, another player has already been confirmed as leaving.

Earlier this week, Sevilla parted ways with Erik Lamela, and they’ve now announced that Oliver Torres will also be on his way out. The 29-year-old midfielder joined from Porto in 2019, and went on to make 201 appearances across the last five seasons – winning two Europa League titles (2020, 2023) in the process.

Torres was a fairly regular starter for Sevilla last season, but the decision has been taken not to extend his contract. It means that Garcia Pimienta won’t have him at his disposal, but it does open up more salary space for the 49-year-old to bring in his own players.
