Martin Zubimendi rejects Arsenal, report claims midfielder would only consider leaving Real Sociedad for two clubs

With the transfer window looming, it’s inevitable that the speculation surrounding Martin Zubimendi will flare up again. The 25-year-old pivot has been linked with a move away from Real Sociedad over the last two summers, and 2024 looks to be no different.

According to Sport, Zubimendi has already turned down his first approach, and it is one from Arsenal. The Gunners are willing to pay his €60m release clause, but personal terms would not be able to be agreed upon.

Furthermore, the report claims that Zubimendi would only considering leaving La Real in the event that either Barcelona or Real Madrid made a move for him. The former have been linked with him over the last 12-18 months, although with Hansi Flick replacing Xavi Hernandez as manager, the expectation is that their interest will cool down.

Zubimendi has stated on many occasions that he has no interest in leaving Real Sociedad under any circumstances, so even if either of the Clasico clubs came calling, it would be a big surprise if a deal happened. He appears fully committed to remaining in Donostia-San Sebastian for many years to come.
