Barcelona deal for star midfielder settles at €23m

In 2019, Barcelona snapped up Pedri for the meagre price of €5m up-front, although add-ons were included as part of the agreement with Las Palmas. Four years later, all possible bonuses have now been paid out by the Catalan giants.

Over the last 46 months, Barcelona have paid out €18m to Las Palmas in these add-ons, taking the overall cost for the 21-year-old midfielder to €23m, as per Diario AS. No more money will be exchanged between the two clubs in regards to the deal made in 2019, although there’s still one clause that has not been activated in the agreement.

That is a sell-on clause, which entitles Las Palmas to a 15% capital gain cut on the transfer fee received by Barcelona in the (unlikely) event that Pedri is sold.

Although Pedri has struggled with regular injuries problems over the last three seasons, it’s safe to say that Barcelona got a bargain price for securing his services. He’s certainly worth more than €23m now, and club bosses will hope his valuation continues to rise as he plays more regularly going forward.
