Jude Bellingham voted La Liga MVP in debut season at Real Madrid, Lamine Yamal scoops YPOTY award

Jude Bellingham’s dream debut season at Real Madrid could be capped off with a Champions League title this weekend, as he faces former club Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley Stadium. In the meantime, he has won another individual award.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Bellingham was the winner of La Liga’s Player of the Season award, in which he defeated the likes of Isco Alarcon and Artem Dovbyk. It’s actually the second campaign in a row that the 20-year-old has collected the POTS award in his respective league, having done so in the Bundesliga in 2022-23.

The Young Player of the Year was awarded to Lamine Yamal, who had a remarkable breakthrough campaign for Barcelona at the age of 16.

Manager of the Year was realistically between two candidates: Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti, and Michel Sanchez of Girona. Los Blancos failed to make two awards of the night, as it was Michel that collected the trophy, having guided the Catalans to third place and their first ever Champions League qualification.

Three worthy winners were presented, with each of the top three having one beneficiary. La Liga was certainly full of action in 2023-24, and we cannot wait for more when the action gets back underway in August.
