“Anything can happen” – Real Madrid star causes concern will ambiguous response to transfer question

Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid from this summer onwards will undoubtedly have a knock-on effect on some existing members of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Perhaps the most affected could be Rodrygo Goes, especially if Ancelotti goes forward with the 4-4-2 system he has utilised this season.

Rodrygo would likely be the one to drop out of the Real Madrid line-up for Mbappe to make way, although they could easily play together if Ancelotti reverts to 4-3-3. Either way, questions have been raised over the Brazilian’s future because of Mbappe’s impending arrival, and he has done little to dampen the speculation.

Speaking to DAZN (via MD), Rodrygo admitted that he is unsure whether he would be able to stay at Real Madrid for as long as he would like.

“Anything can happen. I have a contract here, but I don’t know. I’ve always said I want to be at this club, but let’s see…”

Rodrygo’s impact this season has not been as great as others in the Real Madrid squad, but he’s still undoubtedly a top, top player. It would be pretty unwise for a transfer away to happen, although it cannot be ruled out completely.
