Toni Kroos delivers Real Madrid goodbye message after final home game

Toni Kroos had a simple message to the Real Madrid fans on his farewell night in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos wrapped up the La Liga season with a 0-0 draw at home to Real Betis with the league title already won.

However, despite the incoming focus of a UEFA Champions League final next weekend, all the attention was on Kroos.

Kroos’ decision to retire this summer has shocked Real Madrid with his final game coming in thee Wembley final.

Emotions ran high at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu as Kroos’ family joined him on the pitch before and after the game.

The veteran midfielder was calm at the final whistle as his teammates paid tribute to him alongside the home supporters.

“It’s not easy to say goodbye. I want to say thank you to Real Madrid, I have enjoyed my ten years here”, he said.

“Real Madrid is my home. I’m emotionally very strong but my kids reaction has destroyed me.”

Kroos is expected to start for Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund, as he aims for a fifth European title in the Spanish capital, and sixth in his career overall.
