Sevilla to miss out on top managerial target due to prior agreement with another La Liga club

The hunt is on for Sevilla to find a sixth new manager in less than two years, following confirmation of Quique Sanchez Flores’ departure at the end of the season. A favourite has already been identified, that being current Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate, who will also be leaving his post after next weekend’s final round of fixtures.

Arrasate will be available on a free, but unfortunately for Sevilla, it’s highly unlikely that he will be their next manager. That’s because Relevo have reported that the 46-year-old has an agreement in place to take over from Javier Aguirre as Mallorca head coach, provided that the islanders remain in La Liga for next season.

Arrasate will sign a long-term contract at Mallorca once their safety is assured, which will happen on Sunday if Almeria are defeated at Son Moix.

Sevilla have already started to consider other candidates after being informed of this news. They’ve been linked with Las Palmas’ Garcia Pimineta, although they would have to pay a fee to get him out of his contract at Los Amarillos.
