Barcelona squad split over Xavi Hernandez’s potential exit

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez faces a crucial few days as the club make a call on his future.

The former Spanish international performed a shock U-turn on his initial decision to leave Barcelona ahead of the season run in.

Following conversations with club president Joan Laporta, Xavi was convinced to stay, with the situation apparently resolved for all parties.

However, the situation has reportedly changed again with Laporta furious with Xavi’s statements in Barcelona’s pre-match press conference ahead of their midweek win over Almeria.

The pair are expected to hold showdown talks in the coming days with a decision expected at the start of next week.

Marca journalist Fernando Polo has added another layer to the saga amid rumours of certain players wanting Xavi to leave.

Polo’s comments indicate some of Xavi’s squad feel mistreated by the manager, and would be open to him departing, and they indicated that position to Laporta ahead of his meeting with Xavi.
