Multiple reports claim Xavi Hernandez could be sacked by Barcelona in coming weeks

Recently, Barcelona announced that Xavi Hernandez had gone back on his decision to step down at the end of the season, having been convinced by Joan Laporta, Deco and others to stay on as head coach for another 12 months.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that this would end any speculation over Xavi’s future, but it’s now the opposite. That’s because Cope has reported that members of the Barcelona board have been in Laporta’s ear telling him that the 44-year-old should not continue as manager for next season.

This has been backed up by Achraf Ben Ayad, who has stated that Xavi’s continuity is far from assured. He claims that the situation will be one to keep an eye on in the coming days.

Barcelona has been something of a circus in the last few years, and this situation certainly adds to that. His decision to stay on did not go down well with some board members, and they could end up getting their way, it seems.
