Barcelona starlet Pau Cubarsi renews contract with major increase in release clause

Barcelona have announced a new deal for starlet Pau Cubarsi, who made his debut in January, but has quickly become one of the great hopes for the future for the Blaugrana.

Just 20 appearances in the senior side have been enough to convince Barcelona to renew his deal, extending his contract from 2026 to 2027, but more crucially icnreasing his release clause from a highly appealing €10m to €500m.

The 17-year-old can only extend his deal for a maximum of three years, but is expected that he will pen a further renewal when he turns 18 years of age in January, and sign on until either 2029 or 2030.

By the end of that deal, Cubarsi is expected to be one of the best paid players at the club, as he turns 22 or 23. One of several important youngsters alongside Lamine Yamal and Gavi, it appears they are keen to build around Cubarsi too, and make him part of the spine of the team, in spite of his age.
