Matteo Moretto Transfer Column: Vitor Roque, Mario Hermoso and Girona plans for next season

Matteo Moretto gives Football España exclusive information on the latest deals dominating the papers in Spain, as revealed in Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.

Vitor Roque talks will continue despite agent talks

As we said last week, it’s a problem that is not 100% clear right now, and all parties are going to focus on reaching a decision on what to do this summer. His agent Andre Cury, after his comments on Catalan radio, will have fresh contacts with Barcelona to establish the best course of action.

It’s clear that Xavi Hernandez does not see him as an option to play regularly as things stand, and is not making life as easy as it might be for him at Barcelona. There are a multitude of teams that are enquiring about him for a loan deal, a lot of Spanish teams, but also sides from abroad.

I know his agent Cury has a very good relationship with Manchester United, that much is true, as well as one or two other sides in the Premier League. Barcelona, in theory, they have just signed him, he’s a signing for the future, so they don’t want to transfer him. For them, clearly, a loan deal could be best, but as we’ve seen, Cury has said that they are not open to that. There will be a lot more talks down the line about Roque’s future.

Aston Villa target closer to Saudi Arabia, but deal far from done

Atletico Madrid have communicated to central defender Mario Hermoso that they will not renew his deal. The two sides know they will not reach an agreement, they are aware of that, and his chapter at Atletico Madrid will come to an end at the end of the season. There are multiple teams from Saudi Arabia interested in him, they have spoken to his agents more than anyone else. They would offer him a significant salary, and are the closest, by virtue of the fact that they have pushed more than anyone else.

Hermoso’s agent is shopping him in other leagues in Europe though too, which suggests he is open to a move elsewhere, and there is nothing advanced with anyone to be honest. As the season comes to an end, maybe at the end of May, the offers will start to arrive for Hermoso and we will have a better idea.

Bayer Leverkusen interested in star at Girona wanted by Barcelona

Girona will try to retain as many players as possible in order to have a great season in the Champions League next year. It’s a great project, and they don’t want to mess with that. It could be that one, or maybe two, leave, but they want to hang onto as many as possible.

It’s come out today that Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are interested in Aleix Garcia, their captain and midfield orchestrator. That much is true, and they tell me that Leverkusen have been following him for some time. However they have also told me that it is not a deal that is particularly close currently, and there are no advanced negotiations ongoing. A lot of players want to play for Leverkusen as they have a great project and Alonso, they’ve told me that he is a player that Leverkusen like, no doubt, they’ve been following him for a long time, but there is a shortlist, and they’ve not made a real attempt to try and sign him.

Aleix Garcia ya posa para la Champions!

With Aleix, it would be a big opportunity for him, we’d have to see how it goes if they went in strong for him. Regarding Barcelona, he is not one of their priorities right now.

In terms of future Manchester City winger Savio, they will try to retain him this summer. As Michel said, they want Oriol Romeu back, to keep Eric Garcia, and to have strong team for the Champions League.
