Girona manager declares desire to sign two Barcelona players – Blaugrana open to negotiations

Girona manager Michel Sanchez has expressed confidence that they can maintain the core of players that got them to the Champions League next season, after declaring that Troyes loanee Savio Moreira is the ‘best player he’s ever had’. The 19-year-old Brazilian has been a revelation this season, but by all accounts will be signed by Manchester City in the summer, a third side in the City Football Group.

On Saturday evening Girona achieved an historic feat, qualifying for the Champions League for the first time, in just their fourth season in Spain’s top division. With a number of performing of loanees, including Savinho, and a number of players looking like prime targets for top sides, Michel told RAC1, via Sport, that he felt Viktor Tsygankov and Artem Dovbyk would remain next season.

“I think the Ukrainians will [stay], because they have a contract. And hopefully Savinho… He is the best player I have ever had. I don’t know if he is a Troyes or Manchester City player, but I know he is not our player. We’ll discuss it later.”

Equally captain Aleix Garcia has expressed a desire to play for Barcelona, and has been linked to Atletico Madrid previously too. Michel was adamant on Garcia’s future.

“No, no, no. Just like the Ukrainians, he has a contract, and I hope he continues.”

Meanwhile both Michel and Sporting Director Quique Carcel have expressed a desire to bring back Oriol Romeu in the past, but in contrast to before the Barcelona match, when Michel said that he would be ‘enjoying Eric Garcia for the final five games’,  this time he declared a desire to sign the central defender too.

“Oriol is a player that I have had here and I would like him to return. “Hopefully [Eric stays], Eric is a Barca player and would be a ‘top’ signing.”

In recent days there have been multiple reports that Eric would return to Barcelona and be part of the first team squad, as Xavi Hernandez had revealed. However Marca are reporting that Barcelona would be open to talks for both Romeu and Garcia, claiming the value of the latter is around €15m. They too would be keen to have Garcia back, but the large number of central defenders competing for a spot in central defence, and the financial issues in the Catalan capital, mean that there is no certainty over his future.

Eric Garcia has shown his quality this season at the back for Girona, albeit in a much stronger system than at Barcelona. The Blaugrana will have to weigh up whether Eric can be as useful outwith a system that suits him, or whether they can employ that system. If Girona can hang onto Tsygankov, Dovbyk, Aleix Garcia and Savio, it would have to be considered a successful summer at Montilivi.

  1. There is no reason for Xaxi to remain as coach he has failed the over 40.8 million team supporter appears most team players do not like him

  2. It’s like when Xavi announced that he is leaving Barca started winning. When he announced he is staying Team started loosing.

Communication of players is clear. Further his refusal to play Victor Roque has discredited him but its either personal hatred or he is not Spanish

  3. Don’t mind that stupid coach called XAVI, I don’t even know what happened to my president, it didn’t act like this in the past and now, he is acting like they are using spiritual power on him.And I don’t trust XAVI on this because short man always go with spiritual something.
Firstly, leaving AUBA that performed well for transfer and leaves FERRAN to stay till now, letting this fresh bone young boy midfielder to LA GALAXY, Buying LEWA and GONDO For free to come in, while someone likes ISAK of real sosiedad, PEDRO PORRO of Mallorca is there for us with AUBA in front, or any other striker that is red headed and young.
XAVI is now going for LEWANDOWSKY with that blinking age and both of you played together as a player and you are now a coach and you want to him or telling him his mistake on field, it can’t work, another atrocity is that wether is free or not you don’t need GUNDO, at this point you need someone young and ready to play good football ⚽, normally GUNDO, is ok but not this time of dilemma, watch girona 1st leg, Villarreal 2leg, Madrid 1leg where GUNDO score a goal ⚽ and after that telling his team mates that they were sluggish in Ball or LEWA Telling XAVI not to play our latest breakout star LAMINE YAMAL because of just mistake on pitch which results to a goal for RAPHINHA. without given him the ball to score after missing many chances, and the fool obey him bringing LAMINE in when it’s about 7 or 8 minutes to go, but the star will always be star nomatter what.

    Think about this
Coach announced his retirement at the end of the season and Team stated playing with out draw or lossing
And later reannouce that he is staying and the Team started losing again.
    Think of it.
