Ronald Araujo has been the subject of intense speculation over the last few weeks, with multiple reports claiming that the Uruguayan defender, who has attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United, could be sold by Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Several members of the Barcelona board are open to selling Araujo this summer, not only because of the money that his departure would bring in, but also because of his recent below-par performances.
Despite this, the club’s overall stance is clear: they want him to stay, and they will not push to sell him. As per MD, the only way that he could depart Barcelona in the summer is if he asks to be sold (and provided that an acceptable offer is received). Further to this, there is also a hope that Araujo can sign a new contract in the coming weeks, which would end speculation on his future.
🚨 Barcelona wants to keep Araujo and renew his contract. If he wants to leave, which he hasn't indicated, a big offer would be needed. But Barcelona really wants him to stay. @ffpolo 🇺🇾 pic.twitter.com/msDKdh4gb2

Although Araujo has had a tough season, he is still undoubtedly one of Barcelona’s most important players. It would be madness if a sale occurred, and for now at least, it looks like one won’t happen.
