Barcelona working on Saudi Arabia exit route for two players this summer

Barcelona are desperate to raise funds this summer, and while a major exit is predicted from their starting team, one of the key avenues they are exploring are the sales of their loan players. Two who do not appear to have a future in Catalonia are Ansu Fati and Clement Lenglet.

As reported by Football España, Barcelona will look for an exit for Fati again this summer, while Lenglet has spent the last two years on loan at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa respectively. There has been talk that Barcelona could offer him a mutual termination, aware that few clubs are willing to pay his current salary.

However Sport say that Barcelona are working on presenting both with the option of heading to Saudi Arabia. Fati moved on loan to Brighton last summer, despite reported interest from Saudi Arabia, while Lenglet also turned down a move to the Middle East, meaning it looks difficult for them to change their mind this summer. Economically, it would be ‘very satisfactory for all parties’. Raphinha is also of interest to the Saudi league, but the Catalan daily point out that persuading him to leave looks even more difficult.

Brighton and Roberto de Zerbi have dodged questions about Fati’s future in recent months, and he has lost weight in the side since his injury in the first half of the season. The 21-year-old has also been linked with a return to his native Sevilla this summer. Meanwhile the recovery of Pau Torres has also seen Lenglet drop to the bench for Villa, although he has again proven this season that he can be a useful defender at the top level.
