Barcelona internally confirm that wonderkid striker will be signed in January

Barcelona agreed a deal with Athletico Paranaense during the summer to sign Vitor Roque, although the 18-year-old forward had to remain in Brazil as he could not be registered with his new club due to financial issues.

This has meant that Roque has remained at Athletico PR, who were keen to keep him until the end of the football season in Brazil anyway. They are prepared for the teenager to make the move to Barcelona in January, although it will depend on whether Barcelona have enough FFP space to sign him.

However, it appears that this will be the case, as Sport say that Sporting Director Deco has told Xavi Hernandez that Roque will be arriving in January. Barcelona’s head coach has been desperate have the Brazilian international at his disposal for the second half of the season, and it appears that he will get his wish.

Understandably, there is lots of excitement from Barcelona fans around Roque’s arrival. That will be heightened by this news, which would see him head to Catalonia in the next two months.
