Barcelona Sporting Director Deco keen on Portuguese central defender on a free

Barcelona are constantly on the hunt for market opportunities these days, and Sporting Director Deco believes he may have found one.

Lille central defender Tiago Djalo, 23, is out of contract at the end of the season, and thus available on a free if Barcelona could agree a deal with him.

Coming through the ranks at Sporting CP, Djalo moved to Milan, but failed to get his shot. Now excelling with Lille though, he has earned a Portugal call-up but is yet to make his debut. Quick and strong, Djalo is tall,  good in the air and is reasonable when it comes to bringing the ball out from the back.

Deco is aware of him due to his work in Portugal, and believes he could be a good option according to Sport, but Inter are also interested and could give him a route back into Serie A.

Barcelona are not in great need of central defenders, but as was seen with Franck Kessie, they have no problem taking a risk on a player for free and seeing how they compete – if things don’t work out, Djalo, like Kessie, should retain some market value.
