Carlo Ancelotti fearing possible long-term injury for key defender

Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Athletic Club on Saturday was an excellent result for Los Blancos, although it was not a perfect evening, with Eder Militao being forced off with what looked to be a very painful knee injury.

Militao slipped on the San Mames surface and was immediately in a lot of pain. He was substituted in tears, and focus will now turn to the severity of the issue.

Speaking after the victory over Athletic (via Relevo), Carlo Ancelotti admitted his concern that Militao’s injury could be a very bad one.

“Militao has suffered a knee sprain. It does not look good, we will evaluate in the next few hours. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.”

Having already lost Thibaut Courtois for the entire season due to an ACL injury, Real Madrid will be praying that something similar has not happened to Militao. They will hope that the tests done on Sunday wield good news.
