Barcelona Manager Xavi Hernandez publicly demands signings

Barcelona Manager Xavi Hernandez has made it clear to his employers that with three weeks to go in the transfer window, they still have plenty of work to do.

Not least in terms of reigstering players. That need is more pressing, with just four days before their opening fixture against Getafe, they still only have 13 players registered. About that, Xavi seemed less concerned though.

“The board have given me peace of mind in terms of registrations,” he told Sport.

Barcelona have reportedly agreed to the re-sale of one of their economic levers, which the Blaugrana believe will free up sufficient funds to register their current players.

Yet Xavi will want to ensure that there is still money left over from that deal and any sales, so that he can pursue more reinforcements.

“We have to strengthen ourselves well. The sporting department and the president know it. We will see what fair play allows us.”

It is thought that there are three key priorities for Barcelona, although the right-back spot stands out as the largest need. Xavi would then be keen on a creative midfielder and a forward after that, although having seen the performances of Fermin Lopez and Lamine Yamal in preseason, perhaps Xavi might be less concerned than he would have been at the start of the summer.
