It resulted in a pushing and shoving match between the side and the police, with various players having to be pulled away. Pedro Gallese was taken to the police station, but left without charges after being separated by the police. Teammates Jose Carvallo and Alex Varela went to the police station to make statements of their own volition.
Gallese was released from the station without charge after several hours at the station. Understandably, many football fans are sensitive to heavy-handed policing, which rarely seems to have consequences for those being violent.
