Barcelona President Joan Laporta confirmed yesterday that the club would ‘definitely’ be signing a forward this summer, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed one of the names on their list.
The reality is that many teams are after Marcus Thuram. The French international and Borussia Monchengladbach forward is a free agent in the summer, and has plenty of suitors.
Fabrizio Romano has explained in his daily column with Caught Offside that at least five sides are keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old.
“There are really many clubs. Barcelona, Inter but especially 2/3 Premier League clubs… it’s open and all of them are informed on the conditions of the deal, while Bayern are currently focused on different targets despite reports on Thuram.”
Barcelona will be unable to compete with the Premier League sides on a financial level, knowing that their salary limit will squeeze the club again. As was the case last summer, they will have to use the club’s prestige and the chance to win titles in order to sell themselves to Thuram. It worked with the likes of Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso, but as has been seen this season, the former Leeds United winger has endured a tricky season without guaranteed football.
