Barcelona president Joan Laporta will not meet with Ousmane Dembélé.
Dembélé remains in limbo amid his current Barca contract situation, with the winger on course to be out of contract at the end of the season.
Talks have been ongoing for weeks between Barca and Dembélé, but no agreement has been reached.
Barca are offering a reduced salary, and it is not one the winger – and perhaps more so his agent – are keen to accept.
As of last week, Dembélé has been left out of Barca’s squad, with an exit path being carved out ahead of the end of the transfer window.
But according to reports from the last 24 hours, Dembélé still wants to stay and has requested a meeting with club president Laporta.
But Sport are now reporting that Laporta will not meet with Dembélé despite his request.
Director Mateu Alemany is in charge of negotiations, as the sporting director, and it’s reported Laporta wants the former Valencia chief to have total control.
Laporta doesn’t want to interfere with Alemany’s negotiations, and it seems all roads will run through him.
From here, it will be interesting to see whether Dembélé now goes above his agent’s head to meet with Alemany as he looks for a solution.
