Celta Vigo have sacked boss Fran Escriba after Sunday’s defeat at home to Getafe left them in the La Liga relegation zone.
The Galician side had lost each of their last four outings and had only scored one goal during that run – coming courtesy of the penalty spot.
The biggest concern at the club had been that they have scored just six goals across their 12 legaue matches this campaign having also been involved in a relegation battle last season.
The club thanked Escriba in a statement released on Sunday evening, especially in light of maintaining their top flight status last season, while wishing him all the best for the future.
Javi Gracia, Quique Setién and Abelardo Fernandez are said to be the three names on any possible Celta shortlist.
Celta’s next clash in La Liga is a testing trip to Barcelona next weekend with the Galician side two points adrift of Real Mallorca in 17th.
